Update: O’Connors closed in March 2026 after over 30 years of business. If you are looking for something else to do in this area, I highly recommend a visit to the top rated Worcester Art Museum (the stained glass collection is awesome).
I love visiting Irish pubs, especially around St. Patrick’s day. I love the cozy ambiance, delicious comfort food, and friendly ambiance. This March, I wanted to check out a few new Irish pubs in the Greater Boston metro area. Really, you can’t live in one of the most Irish cities in America and not visiting a few authentic pubs for St. Paddy’s day weekend! Mike and I had a great time at O’Connor’s Restaurant and Bar in Worcester Massachusetts for dinner last night. After a lot of recent bad restaurant experiences in the area, I finally found a decent place! I loved the pub decor – you really get an Irish feeling from the moment you step inside!
There is a cozy laid-back feeling to the place. I loved the dark wood, stained glass, and Irish memorabilia adorning all the walls. It really feels as if you are sitting in a pub in Ireland.

Vegetarian friendly Irish Fare: A Rarity
The menu is pretty large and they offer a full page of vegetarian options! This was a nice surprise for me as I am used to only having 1 or 2 entrees to choose from and/or having to make numerous substitutions. I was overwhelmed by the number of options. What a nice change!
I decided to go with the Vegetarian Quiche – a delicious version featuring tomato, broccoli and cheddar. Mike ordered tasty Fish and Chips. We ordered the Duo of “Mac’s” Spuds & Cheese Skillets as an appetizer, which was a delicious dish consisting of baked potato, cheddar cheese, sour cream, chives, and onions all blended together in perfection. I also highly recommend the Butternut Squash Soup!
I am glad that we found this gem after trying out several mediocre restaurants in the region. This was definitely our best restaurant to date. If you love Irish food, or just love the cozy ambiance of Irish pubs, you will not be dissapointed. A large menu, lively bar, an extensive beer selection, good food, and an awesome Irish pub atmosphere make O’Connor’s Restaurant and Bar a must if you find yourself visiting Worcester.
