Ohio

Ohio is an underrated state in the midwest often overlooked despite being home to a beautiful national park and 3 bustling metro areas. There are many major attraction here including: The Rock N'Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the Cincinnati Zoo, and HOcking Hills State Park. My favorite place by far is Cuyahoga Valley National Park, a free and underrated gem home to miles of hiking trails and an amazing waterfall. Lake Erie beaches offer a quiet low-key vibe in comparison to more touristy destinations.

Hiking, Nature, & Waterfalls

Despite their reputation as an industrial powerhouses, there is some nice nature surrounding all 3 cities. Cleveland offers the best access to nature with 18 beautiful Metroparks right in the city and the gorgeous Cuyahoga National Park just 30 min outside of the city. You also have super easy access to the beautiful Lake Erie beaches, so reallly it is the best choice for outdoor lovers. Other big hiking areas include the Shawnee State Park and Hocking Hills.

Museums, Historical Attractions, & Must-Do's

You will find a number of big city amenities no matter where you travel in the state. Most famously, the Rock N'Roll Hall of Fame is located in downtown Cleveland. Each city is home to an above average zoo, plus there are world-class art museums in both Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Cleveland

While I've heard many say that Cleveland is a dirty, ugly, and dangerous city, I've actually found a lot more good than bad while living here. There is plenty to do especially if you are into nature, museums, sports, or theater. The Metroparks are fantastic, the cross country skiing trails are fantastic, and the food scene is pretty decent for a small city.

Small town attractions

Here are some beautiful parks and events worth traveling for in small towns around the Cleveland metro.
