Woods Seafood is located directly on the waterfront in beautiful Plymouth, Massachusetts, which makes it the perfect restaurant choice for those craving fresh seafood. This is one of the best cities in New England for enjoying fresh lobster, so definitely plan a stop at this family owned gem while you are exploring the city.
If you are a fan of seafood, then dining at Wood’s should definitely be on your to-do list. They have everything seafood related on their menu including: lobster, shrimp, fried fish, haddock, salmon, lobster and seafood salads, lobster and seafood rolls, and plenty of seafood appetizers. You can enjoy fresh haddock, cod, scallops, sole, scallops, swordfish, salmon, clam, shrimp, and oysters anytime of the year. During the summer months, striped bass, bluefish, shalibut, and wild sockeye salmon are also on the lineup.
According to their website, everything is caught locally. You can see local lobstermen arriving in the afternoon hours with the catch of the day.
Mike and I visited Wood’s for the first time when my father was in town as he is a huge lobster fan. After his first visit, he makes it a point to visit this restaurant each time he visits the region. As a vegetarian, it wouldn’t be my first choice, however, I tagged along to enjoy the view (which was fabulous).
I am not a fan of seafood, however, everyone at my table really loved their meal. Mike loved his baked haddock and clam chowder soup. My dad enjoyed his meal so much that he came back twice for the lobster during a single weekend. Prices are pretty reasonable for fresh seafood. You get a 1 and a quarter pound lobster with coleslaw and fries. Our bill was only $40 for 4 people, and that includes lobster and baked haddock. Not too bad!
The highlight for me was enjoying the beautiful views from the dining room. What a view! Plus, there are so many cute little shops, as well as historical sights which you can walk right to after your meal.

Overall, I highly recommend dining here to anyone seeking simple affordable local seafood. If you don’t eat fish, you will want to skip out on this restaurant! The only vegetarian options would include a small garden salad, fries, and onion rings.
Things to do nearby on the beautiful waterfront
The main advantage of dining here is the central location. From here, you can walk right over to several souvenir shops, take pictures by the water, or stroll a bit farther down to visit the Plymouth Rock and Mayflower attractions.
These historic attractions are all located at Pilgrim Memorial State Park. It’s a beautiful area to take some pictures, enjoy the water, and take in some history. At the Mayflower II museum, you can explore a historic 17th century village and learn more about the Pilgrim’s history in the area.

Parking: There are a few parking meters available, which I imagine will all be full on busy summer weekends. I recommend visiting during a slower weekday to ensure a spot!
Tip: Or better yet, find a free spot along one of the side streets and take a nice walk! There is some free parking near Burial Hill – a great historical sight worth exploring while you are in the vicinity. Several Mayflower passengers were buried here so it’s a really interesting stop if you are at all interested in history.
