Cupcake Charlie's in Plymouth

I decided to try out a specialty cupcake shop in Plymouth called Cupcake Charlie’s. The shop is located in the popular waterfront area and is one of the top reviewed places in town. I am not a huge fan of sweets, but every once in a while I’ll try out a fancy cupcake. Flavors are rotated on a daily basis. There were only 3 options available at our time of visit: oreo, peanut butter, and chocolate mint.

I ordered the “Chocolate Mint Madness.” While the bottom half of the cupcake consisted of nice rich chocolate (you could tell it was homemade), the frosting was too sugary for my taste. I did however enjoy the Andes mint! Why do cupcake shops pile so much frosting on top?? If you are someone who likes a lot of frosting, you should be very pleased with the cupcakes here. I prefer a really thin layer of frosting, and unfortunately, all bakeries and treat shops really pile on the frosting layer. Mike loves sweets (and didn’t mind the extra frosting), so he was a bit more satisfied than me.

It was freezing outside, and all the seats were taken inside (only 2 tables available!) which was annoying. As I said, I am not a big fan of desserts, however, if you like sweets you may want to treat yourself to a cupcake. If you are in the area craving something to satisfy your sweet tooth, a cupcake should satisfy. The convenient location on the waterfront allows you to stop for a quick snack after touring the historical sites.

What else is there to do in Plymouth?

I live in the region and visit Plymouth’s waterfront a few times a month. Check out my full guide to exploring beautiful Plymouth. Whether you are interested in history, nature, or waterfront activities, this small waterfront city offers a bit of something for everyone. My top recommended activities in the area include: whale watching tours, lunch at Mamma Mia’s Italian restaurant, a ghost tour with Plymouth Night Tour, exploring Burial Hill, and taking a self-guided tour of the historical sites (pick up a map at the visitor center).
