After running a 5k race in Middleboro, Massachusetts today, I was definitely craving some carbohydrates. Mike and I decided to head over to the nearby town of Carver to have lunch at Mamma Mia’s. We had previously visited this restaurant for dinner and loved it, and therefore, we were anxious to try out the lunch specials. Last time we dined here, I ordered the most delicious Pasta Primavera – a wonderful vegetarian option. Our party also offered a few of their gigantic sundaes to split (I am not that fond of sweets, but it was pretty delicious and everyone couldn’t get enough!).

This is a great local Italian restaurant with multiple locations around Plymouth county. I’ve always wanted to check out the Plymouth waterfront location but never made it yet (too many other restaurants and things to do in this area). I love the food, the service, and the cozy setting. The price are quite affordable too – overall, it’s one of my favorite casual Italian dining options in the metro.
This was the perfect option after a hard race; filling up on plenty of carbs after a tough race was a real treat! It was nice and quiet during lunch hours which was a nice bonus as I wanted to just sit down and relax.

Mamma Mia’s has a nice comfortable, a cozy homestyle appeal. The ambiance is not stuffy at all. You can either come in casual or dress up for a date. Arriving on a Saturday afternoon, the place was completely dead, which made for a nice relaxing lunch. The dining room is small, but cozy and nicely decorated. I would say it’s a nice family friendly choice due to the low-key, casual vibe.
On the menu, you will find a variety of different specialty prices lunch entrees. Lunch serving sizes are still pretty big, even at the reduced prices. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, and Mike ordered the Tuna Salad sandwich, which was served alongside a side of homemade potato salad. We both agreed that our lunches were delicious. The complimentary bread served with olive oil for dipping is a treat as well.

I would definitely visit this local gem again, either for lunch or dinner. Both times we have dined at Mamma Mia’s we have experienced great food, a comfortable atmosphere, and great service. They now have 6 locations throughout the region. I recommend trying one of them out on your next trip to southeast Massachusetts.
Keep in mind that lunch is served from 11am-4pm. At this time, the menu is a bit cheaper. For some entrees, they offer a lunch sized portion for a discount. Some recent selections priced around 15-16 bucks include: Chicken Piccata, Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan, and Lasagna. Sandwiches are priced around $13-14 so a great deal. They are also well known for their pizzas which include options like Vegetarian and Chicken Broccoli Alfredo.
Conveniently, there is a location along the Plymouth waterfront. This is next on my must-try list. This touristy location not only features a fabulouis waterfront view but also it’s walkable to the best shops and attractions. Be sure to take a look at my Plymouth tourist guide for more advice on what to do in this charming city.
