Olde Mistick Village is a year-round 18th century style shopping village with 60 unique shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and more. Walking through this beautiful vintage shopping center gives you the experience of meandering through a New England town of the past. Pretty landscaping surrounds you everywhere you turn, including a beautiful gazebo which is the site of numerous concerts. We recently stopped here for the first time while staying at the Mohegan Sun. It was an easy 20 min daytrip and worth it to get out of the beautiful, but congested casino for a while.
If you are a Julia Roberts fan, you may have seen the 80’s classic, Mystic Pizza, which filmed in the area. Despite being a huge 80’s movie buff, it is not one of my personal favorites, however, there is a popular local restaurant called Mystic Pizza which inspired the movie. If you are a fan, stop by downtown for lunch.

I love the area with the pond and ducks; it’s a great place to stop and drink a cup of coffee or tea on a summer’s day. There is a local shop called Deviant Craft Coffee. If you prefer something a bit sweeter, treat yourself to a scoop of ice cream at Seven Birds.

A local shopping haven
There are over 60 unique shops; you won’t find any chains here! This is what I love most about New England. There are so many local businesses to support. While most towns today are overflooded by chains, there are many opportunities to support mom and pop shops. Mike and I spend many of our weekends exploring local shops in small Main Streets around the region.
One of my favorites at this village was Sophia’s Mystical Christmas shop. Inside you will find a large collection of old world glass ornaments, decor, Nutcrackers and more! It’s a Christmas wonderland that you can enjoy anytime of the year.

Other highlights include:
- Raining Cats and Dogs – Tons of pet related novelties
- Irish Eyes – Great Irish themed apparel and knick-knacks
- Tiger Lilly Tea – High quality organic tea in many varieties
