Cinema Cafe – Dinner & Movie in Virginia Beach

During our trip to Virginia Beach, Mike and I decided to check out Cinema Cafe. Cinema Cafe is a dinner and movie theater concept, with 4 locations in the area. We decided to take in a movie at the Pembroke Meadows location, which offers older movies at a discounted rate. On Tuesdays, admission is only $1.50. Before noon shows are $1.50. Before 6:00 shows are $2.50. All other times, admission price is $3.99. I highly recommend visiting during one of the discount admission periods as you will also reap the benefits of a less crowded theater!
Update: Tickets are a bit higher as of 2022. Unfortunately, everything comes at a pretty high price today! Luckily, this local theater still offers a few great deals to take advantage of. Deals include $5.79 tickets before Noon and $4.79 admission all day on Wednesdays.
Fun food at Cinema Cafe
Cinema Cafe offers a full selection of menu items including pizza, burgers, salads, appetizers, desserts and even alcoholic drinks. The menu is a bit pricey, but so is the food at an ordinary theater and at least you get your choice for meals as opposed to just popcorn and candy. For those craving traditional theater snacks, candy and popcorn are also on the menu. We just ordered a few appetizers – nothing to write home about, but a much better option than popcorn.
Pricing
Movies here are cheaper than a regular theater (with the highest priced tickets at $7 as of 2022), so even if you buy food you will still save money versus a movie and traditional dinner. It would have cost us a lot more to see a show at a regular theater and have dinner before/after. The sound and picture quality seemed to be about on par as other theaters. As for the movie, we saw “Silver Linings Playbook,” which was definitely a great choice! Definitely recommended!
Why you should visit Cinema Cafe
Overall, this theater is a fun choice for those seeking a non-traditional movie experience. The fun aspect of the theater lies in that you get to order from a full menu and even consume drinks during the movie if you wish. Also, a great option for those limited on time as you do not have to find a separate restaurant. I believe Cinema Cafe is a great date night choice for those visiting the region – who wants to stress about where to dine while on vacation?
