Providence’s Italian scene rivals the north end of Boston. With many residents having a rich Italian heritage, it’s not surprising that authentic Italian cuisine is easily found throughout the city. Recently, Mike and I found a new favorite Italian restaurant. Pizzico Ristorante (now Pizzico Oyster Bar) is the perfect place to stop for a light Italian lunch on a summer afternoon.
There is outdoor seating for those interested in enjoying the warm weather. The indoor dining room features nice touches like brick walls, great photography, and a cozy, stylish design. It’s a gorgeous place to take a date or even plan a celebratory lunch or dinner. I really love the overall decor theme.

I ordered the Pasta di Zucca, a delicious Pumpkin Ravioli topped with a creamy pesto sauce and chopped tomatoes. To date, one of the best plates of ravioli I have ever ordered. I would say it even tops a similar dish I had at Giacomo’s – a top notch long running Italian gem in downtown Boston. The serving sizes are small, however, the food is excellent.

Mike ordered a Spinach & Feta Pizza with spinach, mozzarella, mushroom, and tomatoes. The waitress was fine with switching out feta cheese for the mozzarella. The pizza was delicious; exactly what he had envisioned.

The menu includes many seafood based apps (Crispy Shrimp, Shrimp and Scallop Bruschetta), a raw bar, a variety of fresh salads, Tuscan grilled pizza, and a variety of pasta and meat based entrees. Recent entree choices have included Crab Spaghetti and Lobster Penne alla Vodka.
I would dine at Pizzico again: the food was excellent, the dining room was stylish and classy, and the service was friendly. Pumpkin Ravioli is my favorite dish! It is very hard to find; I am glad to know that a local restaurant in the Providence area specializes in this dish!
