Wildflour: Delicous Vegan & Gluten-Free Treats for Everyone
Last night, Mike and I visited an exclusively vegan bakery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island named Wildflour. I didn’t know what to expect as I have only occasionally spotted vegan treats offered at a routine bakery, but never an entire bakery devoted to vegan specialties.
Allergy Friendly Treats!
Walking in I was surprised with the number of offerings available. Looking at the treat counter below you can peak at a few of the treats on the lineup: green tea cupcakes, carrot cake cupcakes (gluten-free), raw cheesecake, brownies (including gluten-free), cookies (including gluten-free), and much more! There are plenty of gluten-free options for those trying to avoid gluten.
I was a bit disappointed that they use a soy based flour base for the gluten-free items. This left me with only 3 soy free options: raw cheesecake, Mexican raw chocolate, and Raw-reo. I was really hoping to get a brownie, however, since I am trying to avoid soy, I decided to go with the raw cheesecake.
The best raw cheesecake
However, I was quite impressed! The raw cheesecake was amazing! I had never even heard of raw cheesecake before visiting Wildflour. It was definitely a different taste, although one that I wouldn’t mind enjoying again! At $7 it was a bit pricey, however, after researching ingredients and time involved, I could justify the high mark up. Very filling and satisfying dessert – I highly recommend!
Delicious peanut butter brownies
Mike ordered one of the peanut butter brownies. He was very pleased and would like me to try to out a recipe at home one day! He honestly couldn’t tell the difference between the vegan brownie and non-vegan brownies (if anything he said it was even better!) We both agreed that vegan and non-vegans alike would enjoy this decadent treat.
Coffee and Fresh Fruit & Veggie Drinks
In addition to treats, you will also find a coffee and juice bar. You will have your pick amongst: freshly squeezed juice drinks, fruit smoothies, green smoothies, and special seasonal drinks. Coffee (slow brewed and traditional), a selection of lattes, and vegan hot chocolate are available to complement your treats.
Healthy lunch selections
For lunch, a selection of readily made quick eats such as: raw lasagna, kale sesame salad, soba noodle salad, and coconut yogurt parfaits are available. Breakfast pastries include various muffins and scones, including: chocolate chip and ginger scones, pumpkin and strawberry bread, and various gluten-free options.
Wildflour is owned by the same people as Garden Grille (a vegetarian restaurant located next door). I am eager to try out this restaurant after my experience at Wildflour.
