Iron Door restaurant
Iron Door is one of just a handful of restaurants in the tiny community of Summerhaven, a summer oasis located on the base of Mt Lemmon. This restaurant is very popular during the summer season as Tucson locals flee the heat for the cool high altitude pine scenery.
Start your day off at beautiful Mt. Lemmon with a great homestyle breakfast at the Iron Door. The Iron Door is conveniently located adjacent to the Mt. Lemmon ski resort. During the summer season, Iron Door gives out 2 free lift tickets when you dine at their restaurant - this is a great deal as tickets are usually $15 a person.
Food
The menu at Iron Door is surprisingly diverse for a small town restaurant. In addition to the standard breakfast fare, there are several specialties including a fabulous homemade Southwestern style Quiche. If you are embarking on a big hike, you may want to indulge in the Hungry Man breakfast, which includes 2 eggs, with pancakes, french toast, or waffles, bacon or sausage, and potatoes and fruit.
They also offer a bottomless cup of coffee (the best in Summerhaven) so you can linger over a cup or two patio side while enjoying the pretty alpine scenery.
Service
Waiters are very friendly here, never rushing you. At Iron Door, you can take your time, enjoying the nice rustic setting without feeling the need to hurry out the door the second you finish your meal.
Atmosphere
The interior of Iron Door is very woodsy with a charming cabin style theme. A cozy fireplace and mountain decor make it a great place to warm up in the winter after hitting the slopes.
The outdoor patio, on the other hand, is ideal during the mild summer season. As you enjoy breakfast, gazing upon the beautiful aspens, hummingbirds flutter around you. During the fall, you will have a prime view of the shimmering golden aspens.
