Review Details

Six Pence is a cozy little British pub located in Savannah's historic district. You may remember seeing this pub featured in the popular 90's Julia Roberts flick "Something to Talk About." The iconic English phone booth is still a popular photo destination for tourists who love this movie.

Nostalgia aside, Six Pence serves tasty British fare in a cozy pub setting. Stop by after a long day exploring historical sights for some classic comfort food.

Food

The menu is quite small and features a handful of appetizers, a large selection of sandwiches, and a section devoted to traditional British entrees. Unfortunately, fish and chips is not available as the pub is too old to have a fryer. Popular selections include Broiled Flounder, Shepherd's Pie, and Bangers and Mash.

As for starters, you cannot go wrong with their massive nachos. Tortilla chips are piled high with a tasty cheese sauce, black beans, shredded lettuce, sour cream, jalapenos, and salsa. These are filling enough in themselves to count as a meal!

Any of the sandwiches are a great deal as well. Options include Roast Beef, Chicken Salad, Turkey, Corned Beef, and Tuna Salad. The average price ranges from $12-17 and includes potato salad, coleslaw, or chips and a pickle - not bad for a touristy destination. A few vegetarian options would have been nice as a future recommendation.

Service

Service is efficient, although we did visit on a rare slow day.

Atmosphere

The ambiance inside is very cozy and casual. It's got that homey pub ambiance where you can kick back with a few drinks and appetizers, especially on a dreary, rainy day. If you prefer, you can take a seat outside and enjoy endless people watching.

Final Words

Six Pence is a great choice for anyone seeking some good pub food in the center of the historic district. Because of it's convenient location, it's easy to stroll right over here following any tour.
