Mother's Bistro is a quintessential brunch favorite in downtown Portland. After stepping inside and taking in the beautiful decor, you will easily see why this local gem is a favorite of both locals and new tourists. Add in friendly service, a desirable location, and delicious affordable food, and there really is no better place for brunch in Portland. I enjoyed both the food and ambiance and this was the perfect choice before exploring the downtown.
Breakfast is the best time to plan your visit to Mother's. At this time, there are numerous goodies to choose amongst including Quiche, French Toast, Omelets and scrambles, Frittatas, a House Cured Lox Platter, and even Breakfast Nachos. We enjoyed the basic egg plate and the Omelet of the day which was a delicious southwestern specialty. Mother's offers your traditional menu of standard breakfast fare, plus a few specialty options for those on special diets, such as gluten-free toast and a vegan Tofu hash. Mothers serves coffee from local company Extracto Coffee Roasters, so you can enjoy a quality cup of joe alongside your meal.
Everything is made from scratch using local ingredients and slow cooking techniques. Chef Lisa Schroeder attended The Culinary Institute of America, where she was selected as one of the top 10 student chefs in America by Food and Wine magazine.
Servers are all attentive and very friendly.
Mother's dining room is so beautiful, elegant and classy, yet still maintains a cozy, laid-back appeal. This is a great place for a casual breakfast date or low-key celebratory meal. We both enjoyed a relaxing morning brunch before exploring the area.
Mother's is the perfect brunch destination for new tourists staying downtown. The charming decor, eclectic menu offerings, and convenient location, easily set it apart from the bunch as the overall winner. With early hours (9am on weekends), you can enjoy a nice meal (without rushing) before heading off to any of your tours/planned activities for the day.
