For scratch-made local fare, look no further than Kitchen Sync. This trendy local gem has frequently been ranked the best of Greenville. The dedication to using local ingredients, farm fresh entrees, and hip vibe have made it a favorite amongst both health conscious tourists and locals. All foodies will definitely want to take note of this one! I absolutely love the seasonal Tomato Pie!
Kitchen Sync serves lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. The menu is small with appealing choices for everyone. For appetizers, start with the zucchini hummus and an order of toast from wonderful local bakery Swamp Rabbit Cafe.
In terms of entrees, the Scampi and Southern style tomato pie are 2 that cannot be beat. Both of these dishes will have you coming back for more. In fact, I came back several times after tasting that delicious tomato pie: so savory and delicious. It's like a quiche but more flavorful and also a great vegetarian option!
If you are up for dessert, the S'Mores is absolutely worthy of the splurge. Chocolate blackout cake with toasted marshmallows, salted caramel ice cream, graham cracker crumble - let's just say anyone with a sweet tooth cannot resist! I rarely ever order dessert in a restaurant, but my father was treating us. I have to say I was totally impressed! On a side note, Kitchen Sync is Greenville's first and only certified green restaurant.
Service is always great here. The waitstaff is always courteous and speedy on drink refills.
The ambiance is bustling and lively. The space is small, yet attractively decorated. The bar is handmade and the furniture has been constructed out of reclaimed building materials. The setting is cozy and inviting. The open concept kitchen gives the dining space an attractive modern touch.
This place is always busy and you can typically expect a wait on weekends, as the restaurant does not take reservations. As one of the best restaurants in Greenville, it is definitely worthy of the wait!
Kitchen Sync is a definite Greenville foodie bucket list contender. I would highly recommend anyone with a passion for great food, made with an attention to detail using local ingredients, will want to plan some time for a one-of-a-kind meal at Kitchen Sync. If visiting during the summer months, definitely treat yourself to a slice of southern style tomato pie!
