Andino's is a classic Italian restaurant in Providence's Federal Hill neighborhood, an iconic section of the city known for its' abundance of top notch Italian restaurants. Known as "Little Italy," this historic neighborhood does not disappoint when it comes to high quality Italian restaurants, and Andino's is no exception. I really love the seasonal pumpkin ravioli here: definitely try it out if you visit during the autumn season.
Andino's is one of the better Italian restaurants in Providence, which is no small feat in a city known for being known for being home to some of the top Italian restaurants in the state. If visiting for lunch, I recommend starting with a Caesar salad and the complimentary fresh bread and olive oil. The entree choices are a bit limited, however, there are a few great seafood dishes including an excellent Shrimp Scampi. Their homemade marinara sauce is really fantastic if you are craving something classic and filling. They offer a great lunch special for just 17 bucks which includes 3 courses of specialty dishes. If you happen to visit during the fall season, you must try the savory pumpkin ravioli topped with a creamy amaretto sauce.
Dinner entrees include: Florentine Ravioli, Penne Alla Vodka, Lobster Ravioli, Lasagna, Parmesan, Linguini and Clam Sauce, and many other classic Italian dishes. They also offer steak, snails, and a raw bar. Basically, there is a bit of something for everyone whether you are craving a hearty traditional Italian dish, seafood, or even a lighter vegetarian entree.
Servers are attentive and quick to provide refills. The place sees much less traffic during the afternoon hours, so if you are seeking a more casual dining environment, peace and quiet, and/or better service, opt for an afternoon visit. Typically no reservations are required at this time.
The ambiance at Andino's is classy, yet still laid-back. This is one of those old-style Italian places where you can still hear Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra on the radio. It feels like a refreshing step back in time as soon as you enter the doors.
Andino's serves classic Italian fare in a beautiful elegant setting. This is a perfect choice for new tourists due to the convenient downtown location and diversity of menu options. In my opinion, Andino's is definitely one to add to your Providence dining bucket list. I really enjoyed the pasta and ambiance and I would return again in the fall just to enjoy the pumpkin ravioli again!
