Yellow Ginger is an interesting choice for Asian cuisine in Greenville. Despite the unassuming strip mall location, this restaurant continues to receive praise and entice return customers. What's great about this place is that you enjoy traditional fare and also try out unique dishes from Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Chef Wong has created an interesting lineup of entrees based on the cuisine of Southeast Asia. Here you can explore dishes from Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. There are many exotic choices to choose amongst, along with more traditional Asian favorites.
We tested out a few staples like egg rolls, egg flower soup, and steamed mixed vegetables with fried rice. All were really delicious. What really stood out though was the Penang Prawn Noodle soup which included chicken, shrimp, and tofu with bean sprouts, a hard boiled egg, scallions, onions, and lo mein noodles in a spicy shrimp based broth.
They offer a number of lunch special including: Lunch Noodles served with a spring roll for 11 bucks and a lunch entree of your choice served with steamed rice and a spring roll, also 11 bucks. Entree choices include: Malay Sweet and Sour Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and General TSO's Chicken.
Service here is fantastic. The waitstaff is always pleasant and accommodating. The dining room is never too busy in comparison to the super popular downtown restaurants. The food does not take long to arrive and the waitstaff is always attentive.
The decor at Yellow Ginger is pretty simple. A bit on the bland side, however, the restaurant appears to be very clean and well-maintained. The vibe is casual, so you can feel free to come in here casually after exploring any area attractions.
Yellow Ginger is your best bet for high quality authentic & exotic Asian cuisine in the Upstate. Although pricing is a bit on the high side, this restaurant serves authentic Asian dishes in an attractive hidden location outside of the congested Main Street region. A great choice for anyone seeking a low-key lunch destination.
