Fireside is an American style dining option in Middleboro, Massachusetts. Featuring a woody style design and beautiful fireplace, this local gem is a nice change of pace from the chains and pub style restaurants frequently found in the area. Fireside is a great choice for couples looking for a fun date night out in a lively, cozy atmosphere. Update: Fireside was voted Business of the Year in 2022, as well as Best Family Restaurant.
The menu at Fireside offers a diverse variety of meat based entrees, mostly consisting of seafood, poultry, and steak plates. Soups, salads, flatbreads, and a variety of seafood menu can be ordered. A few highlights include: Fireside clam chowder, Eggplant Caprese salad, Buffalo Chicken Dip served with tortilla chips, Baked Stuffed Shrimp, Fish and Chips, and Chicken Parmesan. Being a vegetarian, I was a bit disappointed in the lack of options on the menu for me.
Update: As of 2022, they have added a few more veggie options including a Greek Salad and Wild Mushroom flatbread.
Basically, I had the choice between a salad or macaroni and cheese. I went with the Twisted Mac and Cheese, which was pretty tasty, although it could have been spiced up a bit more. Mike enjoyed his Chicken Caesar Salad. On a side note, the honey butter served with hot bread was the highlight of the meal - absolutely different and delicious!
Update: As of 2022, they now serve a Sunday Brunch from 10am-1pm. Also on Taco Tuesdays, you can treat yourself to a variety of Mexican favorites including specialty tacos, margaritas, and appetizers.
Our waitress was just okay. She was more one of the "get down to business" type waiters, meaning she was not very friendly or sociable. She also forgot to bring our refill of bread - too bad because it was delicious!
There are 2 dining rooms at Fireside. We chose to sit in the bar area. There was live music, a packed bar, yet the vibe was still elegant. The place reminded me of some of the lodge-like restaurants I have visited in New Hampshire and Vermont. I enjoyed the casual, yet sophisticated feel of this restaurant.
I would recommend Fireside Grill to those who enjoy a good steak or seafood dinner as your options will be limited otherwise. While I would probably not venture out of the way myself to visit Fireside again as the menu was a bit limited for vegetarians, I would dine here again with friends or family members who would be more than satisfied with the menu options.
