Tired of the same old same old restaurants in the Federal Hill neighborhood, Mike & I decided to try out something new & interesting. While randomly driving around the city one day, we found an intriguing restaurant called CAV. It looked interesting enough to pay a visit. We decided that CAV looked like the perfect elegant restaurant for Mike’s birthday lunch. This local gem is the most eclectic restaurant in the city, and thus, a great date destination for couples looking to try something new!
Right off the bat, the first bonus came with the secluded location. This restaurant is conveniently located down a side street, away from all the traffic and crowds of Providence Place. It’s hard to find free parking in this city. It was nice to visit a restaurant that actually had street parking available! This put us in a good mood before we even entered the restaurant.
A most unique dining ambiance

Inside, we were greeted by a unique Asian and African decor scheme. Various statues and artwork grace the walls. The beautiful brick walls, chandeliers, and fancy table design added to the ambiance. The overall look was very appealing and relaxing. The dining room was a welcome change from other Providence restaurants, both in terms of size and style.

Something for everyone
On the lunch menu, you will find a variety of tempting dishes including: fresh chicken & seafood pasta entrees, chicken & tuna salads, and a variety of sandwiches and wraps. I went with the Veg. This delicious grilled flat bread sandwich combined onions, zucchini, eggplant, squash, bell peppers, and melted mozzarella. The dark green side salad was a nice addition.
Mike enjoyed his TexMex, a Southwestern style wrap, complete with spicy chicken, pepper jack cheese, Chipolte mayo & salsa. We were both pleased with the quality of our entrees. Mike said it was the perfect place to go for his birthday lunch!

Note that there are plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian selections. You will find everything from The Egyptian (a falafel pita), to a Quinoa salad, to a Black Angus Half Pounder, to Shrimp Scampi on the menu. Pricing is on the high side, however, the food is fresh and delicious.
We really enjoyed dining there. This restaurant features a winning combination of sophisticated service, eclectic design, and excellent food. Don’t miss out on this creative restaurant: you are in for a one-of-a-kind treat!
