Nothing quite compliments a relaxing vacation like a stay in a charming Bed and Breakfast. Pagosa Springs is the ultimate vacation destination for relaxation, thanks to its' incredible natural hot springs. After soaking in the mineral rich waters, it's so nice to have a friendly B&B to come back to. Elk Trace Inn is a wonderful property owned by wonderful innkeepers. The gorgeous setting and top notch amenities make this an easy pick for a beautiful lodging option in the Springs.
This B&B is located just a short drive from downtown, but feels a world's away. The rustic setting and mountain views truly create a picture-perfect setting. Just walking around the 60 acre ranch property is a treat. If you love nature, there is absolutely no better place to stay. Lots of deck space to watch wildlife, enjoy a sunset, or just sit and relax with a drink. They have swing chairs, a table, and relaxing seats so you can take in the scenery. My only complaint was that I did not stay here longer! I loved the big beautiful fireplace and woodsy decor. I have stayed in a lot of cabins/lodges and I really loved the decor here.
The major amenity here is the beautiful ranch setting away from it all. It's so beautiful in every direction. Amenities include a fully cooked breakfast which is really great. Our innkeeper went out of her way to cook us an early breakfast since we had a ride on the Durango & Silverton Railroad scheduled that morning. I truly appreciate this gesture. honestly, I've never been treated better at any inn. They really made us feel like welcome guests. Each night, they invited us to dinner and offered us wine. Truly a welcoming place with staff that truly cares. A+ all the way. The best experience I've ever had to date! Other amenities include wrap around decks, a pool table, a sauna, and a hot tub. Also, the lodge is just a quick drive away from downtown and the beautiful Springs mineral resort. Because the setting here is so much more personal and relaxing, I recommend staying here and just using The Springs resort for the pools/spa services.
Rooms typically range from ~200 to 400, depending on date of week, time of year, etc. Not a bad price point considering the wonderful setting, complimentary breakfast, and many amenities.
The rooms are very woodsy and nicely decorated. We stayed in the Elk Room and enjoyed the many rustic touches throughout. I appreciated the private bathroom (the other rooms share). We stayed here in early fall, opened the windows, and had the best sleep of our lives enjoying the cool mountain air as we listed to the rain.
I highly recommend booking a stay at the Elk Trace Inn for your Pagosa Springs vacation. Whether you intend on hiking in the San Juan National Forest or soaking in the Springs, this friendly inn is such a welcoming place to come back to. You really cannot beat the inviting staff, beautiful mountain setting, and cozy woodsy appeal here.
