You will find many tourists restaurants to choose amongst in Uptown Sedona. Salt Rock is an upscale casual Southwestern style restaurant inside the Amara, a fancy Kimpton resort. Regardless of whether or not you make the Amara your choice of lodging, SaltRock is a good touristy dining choice, which offers visitors a fun, casual dining experience, accompanied by fabulous views!
The menu at SaltRock is inspired by ingredients found in the Central Valley region of Arizona. This restaurant specializes in serving fresh Southwestern style cuisine and agave based spirits. One of the highlights of the menu is a Prix Fixe lunch and dinner menu.
The 3 course Prix Fixe lunch menu is an excellent value at just $25 per person. The food is absolutely delicious and creative. The first course consists of an appetizer, of which we tried the delicious roasted corn soup. The second course consists of a selection amongst 5 entrees. Both the Turkey wrap and Egg salad sandwich are tasty selections.
Dessert is perhaps the biggest treat of all as they offer a number of decadent treats. I highly recommend Flourless Chocolate Chilli Torte topped with a peanut butter sauce and caramelized bananas. The S'mondae vanilla sundae is a great pick if you love old-fashioned S'mores.
Update 2025: Although Salt Rock no longer a prix fixe menu, there are many great choices available on the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Examples of breakfast entrees include: Chicken and Waffles, Tres Leches French Toast, and an Everything Bagel Sandwich. Lunch highlights include: Baja Shrimp and Crispy Cauliflower Tacos, Poblano Chile Relleno, and a Tijuana Vegetable Caesar Salad. Dinner highlights include: Scottish Salmon, Elote, and a Southwestern Wedge Veggie Salad. Dessert highlights include: Spanish salted caramel churros ice cream and Dulce De Leche Cheesecake.
Overall, SalRock is a great value in a pricey tourist area. The menu is affordable and interesting and the both the quality and presentation of the food are top notch.
Service was one of the only negatives regarding our dining experience at SaltRock. For a fancy hotel and tourist oriented restaurant, the service was just so-so. Our waiter was neither friendly, nor professional, a bit of a disappointment as the food and ambiance are so good.
SaltRock offers an elegant, yet casual ambiance. The outdoor patio is breezy and relaxed with nice views of the red rocks. Overall, the restaurant offers an excellent vacation vibe, so whether or not you are staying at the hotel, it's worth a visit for the nice ambiance and great food. The patio is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring Sedona's gorgeous red rock trails.
SaltRock is definitely worthy of consideration if you are seeking a laid-back touristy restaurant. The beautiful setting amidst the red rocks and tasty Southwestern style cuisine make SaltRock one of the better dining experiences for those seeking a unique regional experience.
