Review Details

The Moose Cafe is a casual country cafe located adjacent to the Western North Carolina Farmers Market. If you are looking to bypass the more tourist restaurants in favor of a down home country Southern establishment, the Moose Cafe is a great family friendly option that is a bit more casual and low-key. They are most known for their all-you-can-eat special.

Food

The Moose Cafe bills itself as a fork-to-table restaurant. Everything is prepared in-house using local ingredients, right down to the gigantic buttermilk biscuits. This is the place to go if you are craving Southern style comfort food. They have all your comforting faves here, from mac and cheese, to homemade mashed potatoes, to chicken and dumplings.

This cafe has won numerous awards and continues to be popular with both locals and tourists. The big special here for anyone with a hearty appetite is the all-you-can-eat breakfast deal priced at just 10 bucks. Update: As of 2025, this deal is now 12 bucks, so still quite affordable.

First off, you will be served some fresh homemade biscuits, served with jelly. Also included in the special is unlimited scrambled eggs, potatoes, grits, and bacon. Although the deal is unlimited, there are only so many biscuits you can eat! I could never eat enough to make this deal worthwhile, although Mike approved! Although, I got to say, I love those biscuits! For those looking for a simpler meal, there's omelets, pancakes, and French toast too.

Service

Waiters are local and friendly. Refills come out surprisingly fast despite the consistently high traffic.

Atmosphere

The ambiance here is rustic country, similar to a Cracker Barrel. The decor is pleasant, a nice change of pace from the more modern trendy places downtown. It's super casual so you can come in here pre-hike or any other outdoor activity.

Also, there's a cute little gift shop which you can browse around while waiting for your seat. Lots of cute Southern style knick knacks and foods to explore here while waiting (yes, there often is a line to get in on busy weekends!).

Final Words

Stop by The Moose Cafe to enjoy an unlimited country style breakfast in a cozy dining room. Of course, there are numerous higher end breakfast options in the area. Nonetheless, The Moose Cafe is a good choice for anyone seeking a laid-back family friendly vibe and a great deal.
