Rainforest Café is a popular themed chain with locations in touristy areas throughout the US. Most notably, the interior resembles a tropical rainforest. This particular location is conveniently located on the Atlantic City boardwalk. I stopped by for an early dinner on a recent trip to Atlantic City in between checking out the casinos. The convenient location makes it an easy pick while vacationing in the area. This was my first time dining at a Rainforest Cafe: I enjoyed the theme and the food was decent enough.
The menu at Rainforest is pretty diverse and includes everything from seafood, to pastas, to beef pork and chicken based entrees. It's also a great place to simply enjoy a few comfort food appetizers and drinks. Try the Awesome Appetizer Adventures which includes Chimi-Cha-Chas, spinach artichoke dip, mozzarella sticks, and chicken strips.
I ordered the “Tropical Tortellini” which was a combination of: cheese tortellini, sun dried tomatoes, peas, and mushrooms in Alfredo sauce. I also ordered a smoothie which came served in a really cool souvenir glass. The food was average, but you really are paying more for the unique atmosphere.
You will find a little something for everyone on the menu, including soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches, pork and chicken entrees, seafood entrees, and pastas. Various gluten-free and vegetarian meals available including a veggie pasta and gluten-free spaghetti.
The server was above average here, probably because of the tourist location. It is always nice to have servers that go above and beyond in tourist destinations as it adds to the fun vacation ambiance.
The main reason you come to this restaurant is not for the food, but really for the unique rainforest decor. It was interesting listening to the thunderstorms that go off every half hour. The tropical scenery is very appealing and the animatronic animals are entertaining. This place is popular with families due to the lively setting and casual vibe and food offerings.
If you are looking for a fun themed dinner experience in Atlantic City then I recommend trying the Rainforest Café. The entertaining atmosphere here alone makes up for the high prices!
