If you are seeking delicious authentic pierogies and potato pancakes, there is no better choice in Pinellas County than Pierogi Grill in Clearwater. As an added bonus, there is a European market on-site. Also, keep in mind that you will receive a free Pierogi dinner on your birthday.
Pierogi Grill is definitely the place to go in the Bay to get your pierogi fix. They offer a fantastic deal where you get 12 pierogis for one low price. This special is available as a meat or vegetarian mix.
The veggie mix is delicious and includes an assortment of pierogis including potato and cheddar, potato and farmer's cheese, spinach, and mushroom and sauerkraut. Their potato pancakes, served alongside applesauce or sour cream, are also super delicious.
The menu offers much more than simply pierogies with various, soups, salads, and entrees available. For dessert, try one of their sweet pierogis, available in numerous varieties including strawberry, plum, cherry, blueberry, and sweet white farmer's cheese.
The service could definitely be improved. There was no one around to greet us or seat us. The waitstaff seemed a bit frazzled and disinterested. The food took a while despite the restaurant being nearly empty.
The theme here is unique with pretty garden style decor and lots of plants. It's very dimly lit which leads to a nice quiet ambiance. However, the restaurant does look like it could use a good cleaning.
Update: I saw some recent reports that this restaurant failed a few health inspections. This is unfortunate as the food is really good.
Overall, Pierogi Grill is probably your best bet for authentic pierogies in the Pinellas County area. Anyone seeking quality Polish food should be satisfied with their experience here. It's definitely the best Bay area choice for authentic Polish cuisine. Update: I found recently that this restaurant has had many health code violations in recent years. Quite unfortunate as their food is pretty decent. I recommend browsing recent reports and dining at your own risk.
