Mellow Mushroom is a funky, eclectic pizza chain with locations across the US. The delicious pizza and appetizers, artsy interior, and oddball ambiance make it a fun choice for any tourist seeking a casual and fun meal out. The Asheville cafe is a fun place to hangout after a long day hiking or exploring other area attractions.
Mellow is known for their large craft beer selection, tasty appetizers, delicious pizza, and numerous allergy friendly options. If you are on a special diet, it's the best pizza place in the region as they offer numerous GF and vegan selections including vegan cheese and a specialty gluten-free crust.
The best part of the menu is the tempting "Munchies" selection which includes Spinach artichoke dip, cheese bread, magic mushroom soup, wings, and more. The winner here is the amazing Pretzel Bites, which are topped with garlic butter and parmesan, and served with a tasty Pabst Blue Ribbon beer cheese.
A variety of fresh salads, stone-baked pizzas in a number of creative varieties, calzones, hoagies, sandwiches and burgers round out the menu. An entire selection is dedicated to GF and vegan options so again this is a great dining choice for anyone following a particular diet.
No matter which pizza you go with, you will love the signature crust which is seriously the best. According to the company, this is because they use Appalachian spring water, no refined sugar, and unbromated, unbleached wheat flour.
Everything on the menu is on the healthier side. They use no additives, no hormone-added meat, fresh vine ripened hand selected tomatoes, premium mozzarella, and soy-free vegan cheese.
Also, the GF crust is made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, so no worries about cross contamination.
Servers are attentive and friendly. We had no problem with drink refills or any errors with the orders.
The decor here is very fun and appealing making it a great choice for anyone seeking a fun, "vacation-approved" restaurant. The art is very creative and out there, giving you something unique to feast your eyes on while you wait for your food.
As a bonus, the Asheville location features a pretty cool patio which you can enjoy pretty much anytime of the year outside of the cold winter months.
Mellow Mushroom is a great stop downtown in between exploring various attractions. You can count on tasty food, a fun ambiance, and great service when visiting any location. Asheville is no exception: the decor is so much fun, the appetizers are amazing, and the location puts you within easy reach of other attractions.
