Mamma Mia's is a great choice for Italian food in Southeastern Massachusetts. There are 5 different locations; we dined at the Carver location. It doesn't look like much from the outside being a small building in a strip mall. However, we were all very pleased with the food and service. Update: We have visited Mamma Mias again many times as we loved the food and ambiance and we have family members living in nearby Middleboro.
The food was excellent. Everyone in our party absolutely loved their dishes, ranging from lasagna, baked ziti, pasta primavera, and chicken broccoli pizza. Servings are very large, so we all had leftovers for lunch the next day. Bread is provided, but salads are not included. We split a large salad as a table (the house salad was delicious).
We don't usually order dessert, but decided to test one out as they all looked very tempting. Our table split an ice cream/brownie dish and wow was it humongous! Biggest dessert I have ever seen and super affordable as well!
Prices were appropriate for an Italian restaurant. You are basically getting 2 for 1 though as the servings are so large. They also offer a number of lunch deals available daily from 11-4. Lunch sized pasta entrees are priced a bit cheaper. Options include: sandwiches, panini, soups and salads, pizza, and pasta entrees. A few pasta highlights include: Chicken PIccata, Chicken Broccoli Penne, and Chicken Cacciatore.
Our waitress was friendly and enthusiastic. She engaged in plenty of small talk with our table, which added to the friendly atmosphere. I always walk out of a restaurant feeling happier when the service is exceptional.
Mamma Mia's dining room offers a casual feel, almost like you are having a family dinner at home. The decor inside is nice (I love the sea glass wine glasses). The dining area is a bit small and sectioned off a bit strange into separate rooms, however, the cozy atmosphere was inviting.
I am happy that we decided to try out Mamma Mia's in Carver. We are a big fan of Italian food, and this is definitely the best we have had in the area. Pasta dishes were excellent, service was friendly, and the atmosphere was just right.
Update: After many return visits, I can say that the food and service continue to be top notch.
