The historic East Bay Inn, built in 1852, is part of the Historic Inns of Savannah Collection. Not only is this property gorgeous, but it is also located within walking distance of the riverfront and historic district. If you are a fan of the supernatural like me, the fact that this inn is supposedly haunted, should motivate you even more to book a room!
I love the historic charm of this inn. With so many chains surrounding us in every direction, in every town today, it is nice to stay somewhere with so much history and detail. I absolutely love the exposed brick walls. Soft robes, mini fridges, a small couch, and individual bathrooms available in every room. Some rooms are pet friendly as well.
The best amenities here is a complimentary glass of wine or beer each night: I took advantage of this great deal each night of my stay. All day coffee and tea is a nice perk, so you can recharge yourself after all that walking and exploring! You will also receive 15% off at the inn's 2 on-site cafes: Debi's Restaurant and Tandem Bar. Parking is located at a garage about a block away. Amenities are covered via a $35 daily fee. Of course, the best amenity is being able to walk to the riverfront, many fantastic restaurants, and the public squares. You can save yourself a lot of money by not taking any Uber or Lyfts around the city! Also, most trolley tours can pick you up at the inn.
Room rates vary from ~$200 to over 500, with rates being highest around the Halloween season. Also, Savannah is quite popular during the summer months. We scored attractive rates staying here in early fall before the Halloween crowds arrive.
I love the room. It's so charming and historical with the exposed brick, ornate crown molding, beautiful armoire, and colorful drapes. Even the paintings and pillows are a bit more attractive than your ordinary hotel room. On a side note for the paranormal buffs out there, a ghost named Charlie reportedly haunts this property. Both guests and inn staff have reported seeing his ghostly apparition. I am normally a pretty good sleeper. Strangely, I had insomnia my entire 2 nights staying here (I seriously did not sleep for than a few hours, yet I was ready to go the next day). Not only did I not sleep, but I heard weird screams and felt the presence of a ghost flying across the room and jumping out the window! Interestingly, our room number added up to 13! Was I just spooked from the legends or do ghost really haunt this old city? I can only hope that the Ghost Adventures crew investigates soon!
I recommend staying at Savannah's East Bay Inn if you are seeking a gorgeous historic property which offers affordable room rates. You really cannot beat the beautiful historic charm and convenient location to so many great Savannah attractions and historical sites.
