Illinois

Illinois is most famous for being home to Chicago, the 3rd largest city in the country. Being a native of The Windy City, I've spent a lot of time exploring the wonderful museums, enjoying the city's fabulous architecture, and of course, feasting on great thin and deep dish pizza. Even the suburbs offer a lot of amenities including the world-class Brookfield Zoo. Outside of the city, you will find some great nature including Starved Rock State Park which features 18 sandstone canyons, 13 miles of hiking trails, and several seasonal waterfalls.

Big City Attractions & Events

There is no better city to be in during the summer season than Chicago. The city comes alive with so many fun events, plus you have Navy Pier, the beautiful Lakefront Path, and the beautiful beaches to enjoy. That being said, I also think this is an underrated winter season. With so many festive Christmas events and 2 wonderful city ice rinks, a winter visit isn't that bad either.

Chicago

I've enjoyed The Windy City in both the summer and winter season. In the summer, I love biking on the Lakefront Path along Lake Michigan and enjoying the best ice cream ever at the Original Rainbow Cone. In the winter, I love ice skating at Millennium Park and visiting the world-class museums (The Field Museum is my favorite).

Chicago suburbs

In Chicago, the suburbs are almost as impressive as the city itself. These aren't your ordinary blah strip mall only towns. There are many unique attractions, my favorites being: The Tivoli Theater in Downers Grove, Brookfield Zoo, and downtown Naperville. 80's movie buffs probably already know that John Hughes filmed most of his movies in the northern burbs!
