Greenville's Main St. is home to so many great local restaurants. One of my favorites is Greektown Grill, a wonderful local Greek restaurant. Not only is the food authentic and delicious, but the decor is just as appealing. If you are craving traditional Greek food, be sure to give Greektown a try during your time in Greenville. You will not be disappointed! I often stop here for the great lunch specials which include a pita of your choice and fries.
The food at Greektown is terrific. You will find all the traditional Greek favorites here. I highly recommend starting with spanakopita. Although a tad overpriced, this app is the best! Also consider the Greektown trio spread, the Flaming Saganaki Cheese, and the Hummus plate. Other choices include: Fried Calamari, Spicy Feta Dip, Dolmades, and Santorini Shrimp.
Lunch is the best time to plan your visit as the dinner entrees are a bit pricey. However, they do offer a lot of great lunch and happy hour specials. The pitas are truly amazing (especially the veggie with tzatziki sauce), and even better yet served with the best homemade French fries in the city. Of course, if you have room left over, you will want to treat yourself to a traditional Greek dessert (baklava cheesecake or sundae) and coffee.
Other entrees which you can enjoy for lunch or dinner include: Shrimp Feta pasta, Mediterranean Chicken Breast, Moussaka, Chicken Souvlaki, and their popular Greek pizza which is available as either chicken, gyro, or veggie.
Service is a hit or miss. During the busier workday lunch hours, service can be really slow. To get prompt service, avoid primetime weekday lunch hours.
The ambiance at Greektown is very appealing. The decor is very eye catching with colorful murals covering the walls. The dining area is vibrant and colorful. The space is cozy and comfortable. Most of the time, the restaurant is not overly busy, and thus, the vibe is casual and the service is fast. They also offer a decent outdoor patio. Not really much in the way of decor, however, a nice way to enjoy Greenville's enjoyable (mostly) mild year-round climate.
Greektown is one of the best ethnic restaurants in downtown Greenville. If you prefer to dine local, this is one of the better choices in the downtown region. Delicious Greek fare plus a beautiful dining ambiance definitely place this local gem amongst the best-of-the-best downtown.
