I love NY style pizza and seek out no matter where I travel. Todaro serves the best NY pie in Greenville. This NY style pizza place started in Clemson and recently opened a second location just off of Main Street in downtown Greenville.
This local favorite is known for their $1 slice night, offered every Wednesday from 6-10pm. As one of the best deals downtown, it's definitely worth looking into if you happen to be in town. Let's just say, I have partaken in this special on many occasions.
Todaro offers a number of specialty pizzas including stuffed options, plenty of vegetarian choices, white pizza, various chicken pizzas, and even a Greek option. Stromboli and a few light appetizers (the garlic knots are great) are also available.
The best time to visit is Wednesday between the hours of 6-10pm. During this time, you can order as many slices as you like for only a buck. Toppings are 50 cents. However, you won't need any as plain cheese is always the way to go, and the pizza here is pretty delicious. This is a fantastic deal - the slices are pretty large too - 2 is usually plenty enough for me. Also treat yourself to some garlic knots: they are so delicious!
Another great deal offered by Todaro is a weekday lunch buffet featuring various pizza options for just 9 bucks. If you are the type of person who can easily finish an entire pizza, you may want to look into the buffet.
The line can be very long if you do not arrive right at 6 on the dot on Wednesday nights. Be prepared for a long wait to order at the counter if you arrive any later.
Unfortunately, no waiter service is available. Nonetheless, the pizza here is amongst the best in the city, so it's worth the wait!
The vibe at Todaro is super casual. They have bags (cornhole) and picnic tables outside. The vibe is summer fun - it reminds me of summers growing up in the Midwest. The inside is a bit cramped, however, for $1 pizza who cares?!
Todaro is a great casual place to grab a few slices of pizza in the Greenville area. If you love great NY style pizza, as well as a great deal, you are sure to be pleased with the Wednesday night special. That being said, the pizza is good enough to warrant a visit any day of the week.
