The Cookie Dough Cafe is one of many eclectic foodie destinations to check out while staying in downtown Portland. This unique shop features a variety of edible raw cookie dough flavors which you can mix and match for the ultimate "safe to eat" indulgent treat.
You may remember seeing The Cookie Dough Cafe featured on Season 5 of the popular reality series "Shark Tank." The company has come a long way since then, now offering their edible cookie dough in supermarkets across the country. After trying out the shop in Portland, I occasionally treat myself to a pint at home.
At The Cookie Dough Cafe, you can safely eat raw cookie dough as the batter does not contain any egg. Most of us love to indulge in a scoop (or 2) of delicious cookie dough anytime we whip up a fresh batch of dough despite concerns over salmonella poisoning.
At the Cookie Dough Cafe, we can safely consume this tasty treat without feeling guilty. You can't help but feel nostalgic as memories of licking the beaters clean after mom whipped up a fresh batch of dough come swirling back up.
The Cookie Dough Cafe offers a number of tempting flavors including Oreo, Brownie Batter, and Confetti. However, the best flavor of all is the original Chocolate Chip Cookie. As the dough is so tasty by itself, there is no reason to take away from the original flavor with extra sweeteners. Those avoiding gluten will be glad to know that they offer a gluten-free Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. Additionally, the brownie batter flavor is vegan.
As for how you will enjoy your doughy treat, you can mix and match different flavors, mix the dough with ice cream, enjoy a cookie dough sandwich, or try it served in a waffle bowl. I recommend sticking with the classic original dough with nothing else added!
The staff is really friendly and very patient, allowing each guest to sample flavors despite the lengthy wait. I loved being able to sample a few before committing to a purchase.
The inside of the cafe is very small and tends to get crowded and cramped, especially on weekend evenings. It's best to order to go and enjoy your snack while strolling around downtown as seating is extremely limited.
If you find yourself craving something sweet, you will definitely want to plan for a scoop of cookie dough at this unique cafe. If you are up for something a bit different, a scoop of indulgent nostalgic raw cookie dough should hit the spot! We conveniently walked over here from our hotel, however, I would go out of way to enjoy another delicious scoop next time I am in Portland.
