St. Honor Boulangerie is a charming little French bistro with a central location in downtown Portland. This charming local gem offers an assortment of decadent authentic pastries and French delicacies in a cozy casual setting, The Boulangerie is the perfect place to stop for a quick breakfast and coffee before exploring any sights in the city. I enjoy the pastries and ambiance and it was super convenient before exploring local attractions downtown.
St. Honor partners with a number of local companies and focuses on using sustainable ingredients in all their pastries and breads. The master chef, Dominique Geulin from Normandy, won the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France award after constructing a bread sculpture of the Eiffel tower. He is also the recipient of numerous other awards, including one in the Leadership category in the French-American business awards of the Pacific Northwest.
If you have a craving for something sweet, you are in the right place as there are dozens of pastries and desserts to choose amongst. If you prefer something a bit more savory, there are Quiches, sandwiches, soups, and other light French fare to choose amongst. And don't forget to try some traditional French bread while you are here.
The veggie Quiche I tried was so delicious. As far as pastries go, we were pretty pleased with the Pain Au Chocolat. On an interesting side note, the bakery is named after St. Honore, the patron saint of bakers - you will find a unique statue next to the claybrick bread oven.
Servers are casual and friendly and you do not feel rushed which is a must as there are so many tempting treats to debate over!
St. Honor offers a charming rustic French ambiance with wooden tables, flagstone flooring, and wicker baskets holding freshly baked bread. There are big floor-to-ceiling windows so you can gaze out unto the city while enjoying your meal.
The Boulangerie is a great breakfast stop for anyone seeking an upscale casual dining destination. Whether you are craving a savory traditional French entrée or an expertly made pastry and espresso, Boulangerie is the perfect choice. As it is conveniently located nearby many hotels, it's an easy walk for anyone staying downtown.
