If you are seeking a budget friendly property close to Belfast or other mid Coast Maine cities, this inn is a great little affordable place to consider. Belfast Harbor Inn was a good inexpensive choice for our one night stay in the Belfast area. Unfortunately, there was a huge rain storm and we were unable to do much outside during our trip. However, the inn is located right off the ocean.
This inn is located on Penobscot Bay in the gorgeous Midcoastal area of Maine. Unfortunately due to bad weather, we could not see much around the inn. However, the inn appeared to be your basic motel type lodging. It looked clean and maintained, but nothing fancy. The main benefit is the location right off the ocean. The views from the dining area are pretty spectacular.
Amenities include a free breakfast, a pool, spa, and fitness center. Pets are allowed for a small fee. The breakfast was just average, but the room overlooking the bay featured fantastic views. Unfortunately, the pool and spa were closed on our visit. The inn was redesigned in an eco friendly matter, which solar now providing 60% of the electricity needs.
We found this inn on hotels.com for $80, which was a bit overpriced. Unfortunately, we needed a place that accepted pets and there were not many options available in the area. As of 2025, rates typically range between $100-200 depending on time of year. Expect to pay more on summer weekends.
The room was old and outdated. They definitely need some renovations! I was happy that they had a microwave (they are supposed to charge $5 but I think they forgot). Update: The rooms recently underwent a renovation and the features appear a bit more modern. A 40 inch flat screen TV, better bathroom amenities, and a mini fridge have been added. Note that rooms with an ocean view are available for an extra fee.
The Belfast Harbor Inn is an adequate place to stay if you just need a room for a night or 2. If you are looking for a longer leisure trip then you are better off booking a nicer place.
However, the staff were friendly and even gave us area restaurant recommendations, the price was cheap for the area, and the views were nice so I don't have any major complaints. For the location, this is one of the best deals in the mid coast Maine region.
