Review Details

The Inn at Ocean's Edge is a beautiful property located in Maine's stunning midcoast region. The resort offers a number of luxury amenities, plus it is located within an easy drive to beautiful Camden, Maine. Mike surprised me for my birthday with a trip to this beautiful oceanfront property. Living in Islesboro at the time, this was an easy weekend getaway. Staying one night was not enough, I wanted to stay here for a whole week!

Our package included dinner at the onsite restaurant, The Edge, and a cooked breakfast in the morning.

Appearance

The Inn is beautiful, both outside and inside. The grounds are stunning with beautiful landscaping and an exceptional pool area. The receptionist was very kind and gave us a tour of the property upon our arrival. There is a nice balcony which overlooks the pool with ocean views, perfect for relaxing with your morning cup of coffee.

Amenities

Amenities included 24 hour coffee and tea, afternoon cookies, a movie library, breakfast, a saltwater Infinity pool and hot tub, a sauna, and an outdoor fireplace.

The vanishing pool was really neat especially with the ocean views in the background. Unfortunately, it was a bit cool outside so we mostly stuck with the hot tub. The outdoor fireplace was also a nice treat. The sauna was a perfect mini escape from the cool weather.

In addition, there is access to a private beach via a small staircase. I thoroughly enjoyed searching for sea glass during our trip.

The breakfast was included in the rate and it was excellent, not to mention held in a gorgeous room overlooking the water. In addition to fruit and homemade muffins, you could also order eggs and potatoes.

We paid extra for a package that included dinner at The Edge Restaurant. This was the only disappointment of the trip. Almost the entire menu is seafood, so if you love seafood you are in luck. Vegetarians beware: the choices are very limited!

I am a vegetarian, so I could not eat any of the listed entrees. I asked for something vegetarian and they brought out a plate of pasta that looked like Ramen noodles. The sides of vegetables were good though. Portions are very small, so you will probably need to order a few apps and dessert just to satisfy your hunger.

On the other hand, Mike ordered lobster and enjoyed his entree very much.

Another advantage of this inn is the friendly, helpful staff. I had a problem with The Edge restaurant and the manager offered us another stay including an upgraded room and another free dinner. I really appreciated the nice gesture. Also, I left my phone charger by accident and the receptionist called right away and mailed it out to me. Talk about exceptional service!

Price

Our package cost around $300 for one night in a regular room. The package included dinner for 2 at The Edge Restaurant and also breakfast in the morning. Normal rates vary based on the season and can range from $200-500 per night depending on time of year/the type of room you book.

Make sure to sign up for their email list to receive news of special offers and promotions and also to find out about last minute deals. The receptionist also informed us that we could be placed on a phone list to find out about last minute deals.

Room

The hotel room was beautiful. It was decorated in an elegant summer vacation type theme. There was a nice fireplace, too. The large jetted tub in the bathroom was a luxurious bonus. Mike also added chocolates and champagne in the room which was a nice treat! Check the website for additional add-ons for a romantic experience.

Final Words

I would definitely visit this inn again. Next time, I would just book the room, and then find a nice restaurant in the Camden area for dinner as opposed to the on-site option.

The entire resort including the elegant rooms and lobby, amazing ocean views, landscaped grounds and infinity pool definitely make the Inn at Ocean's Edge worthy of another visit. Update: We were invited back to this inn by the owner due to the mix up at the restaurant. Our second experience was even better than the first. I truly appreciate that the owner actually took our concerns seriously and invited us back. We will definitely be booking future mid coast Maine adventures at this gorgeous inn.
