Nick's on Broadway, a modern American restaurant, located in Providence's famous Federal Hill neighborhood, draws a huge crowd each weekend. This trendy restaurant has won numerous awards over the years, including a 3 time prestigious title as "One of the World's Best Restaurants," by Fodor's International. I was pleased with both the menu and the dedication to sourcing healthy ingredients.
Nick's focuses on using local ingredients, a big plus for those trying to avoid GMO's, artificial hormones, and pesticides. A variety of healthy menu items, including organic selections, fresh produce, and multigrain bread and pancakes round out a "healthier-than-usual" breakfast menu.
The breakfast burrito and mushroom & broccoli frittata were both excellent. Nick's has no problem with any substitutions; feel free to switch out items due to allergies or personal dietary preferences.
Brunch is available from 10am-3pm. The wait is very long (first come, first serve only), so intend on getting here at opening time if you do not have time to wait. The brunch menu is small but includes many interesting selections.Recent highlights include: strawberry rhubarb pancakes, black beans and eggs, and honey chili chicken biscuit. If visiting for dinner, you can enjoy crostini, oysters, pasta, and housemade desserts and ice cream. Recent highlights include: Mushroom Cavatelli, sweet potato carrot and seafood bisque, herb roasted fish and asparagus, and lemon panna cotta for dessert. Local beer and wine selections are available to complement your meal.
Waiters were professional and accommodating. Substitutions for any reason were no problem. Servers are willing to answer any questions about ingredients and cooking style. Servers were timely, considering the packed dining room.
Although the dining area is small, Nick's does a good job with the limited space. The decor is hip and trendy. The restaurant features a young crowd. The open kitchen, exposed brick walls, and large windows gave the feeling of a big city establishment.
Nick's on Broadway is the perfect choice for the health conscious diner who wants to enjoy a meal out, but not sacrifice their healthy lifestyle in exchange. The busy atmosphere, local menu, & hip crowd make for an enjoyable weekend brunch experience for any foodies. I would definitely visit Nick's again for breakfast. I loved the food and trendy vibe, plus there is a lot to do in the vicinity, so it's a great choice to fuel up.
