The Mermaid Restaurant is a fun little place right next to the famous fish tank at the Silverton Aquarium. Although it is a bit off The Strip, a detour to the Silverton is well worth the drive for a look at this fabulous tank, which happens to be one of the best free attractions in Vegas. The Mermaid Restaurant offers a number of fun appetizers and comfort style foods which you can enjoy in a laid-back setting right next to the gigantic 117,000 gallon saltwater tank. It's definitely a fun vacation experience, especially for anyone who loves fish tanks and themed restaurants.

For a touristy restaurant, the food at Mermaid Restaurant is actually pretty good. There's lot of fun appetizers on the menu including spinach & artichoke dip, chips & salsa, mac & beer bites, and shrimp cocktail. Really, it's a great place to order a few drinks and appetizers and enjoy the beautiful aquarium. As far as entrees go, the BBQ Chicken Pizza (grilled chicken, BBQ sauce, red onions, mozzarella, & cilantro) and Beer Battered Cod tacos (cod in 3 soft shell tacos stuffed with pico de gallo, pickled cabbage, sour cream, and guacamole) were both pretty tasty. Servings are pretty big here and prices very affordable, so really no complaints about the value. Nothing too fancy is served here, just tasty comfort style foods, which are perfect for a laid-back vacation meal. The menu is pretty limited. Other selections include a handful of appetizers, a small selection of paninis and pizzas, salads, and several sandwiches.

Service was friendly and efficient. All waiters were tourist oriented, which made the experience more fun.

The Mermaid Restaurant features a setting like no other in Vegas. If you are a fan of fish tanks, then you really need to make some room on your trip itinerary for a visit to the Silverton. The 117,000 gallon salt water tank is home to over 4000 colorful fish - it truly is a mesmerizing sight. As you much on fish and chips or fish tacos, you can relax and enjoy the views of the aquarium at one of the most unique restaurants in the city. The bar is really cool too with a tropical theme and cool jellyfish tanks. The fun laid-back ambiance is perfect in my opinion for anyone seeking a casual, fun restaurant to compliment the Vegas experience.

If you are staying at the Silverton, the Mermaid Restaurant is definitely worth checking out. Even if you are not staying at the Silverton, you should take a drive or cab over to check out the aquarium and the Mermaid Restaurant. As an added bonus, the casino is also home to a gigantic Bass Pro Shops. There is plenty to see and do at the Silverton, plus good affordable food, hence, the drive over is well worth your time.
