Eco-Bean is an organic, fair trade coffee house in Tarpon Springs. Serving organic coffee in a cozy atmosphere, Eco-Bean is the perfect alternative to a boring, unhealthy chain. A variety of vegan and gluten-free treats make this coffee shop accessible to almost everyone unlike the heavy wheat/dairy loaded pastries found at your typical chain. Overall, Eco Bean is a great place to spend a relaxing morning enjoying the quiet atmosphere and delicious coffee and treats.

Coffee drink prices are reasonable (starting in the $2-3 range, however, the entrees were a bit pricey - $11 for gluten free pancakes). We ordered an Americano, which tastes slightly sweeter than traditional drip coffee. This style of coffee is made by adding hot water to espresso. No complaints here - Eco Beans makes one fantastic Americano! Aside from delicious organic coffee and specialty espresso drinks, Eco-Bean offers a small variety of breakfast options (gluten free pancakes, free range egg platters), a few light lunch choices (quinoa salad), and a selection of amazing treats (gluten free cupcakes and peanut butter bars). Everything is gluten-free so you do not need to worry about any cross contamination. Most items are also dairy free. Vegans can request numerous milk alternatives such as coconut, soy, and almond milk. Healthy juiced drinks are available for those wanting to boost up their raw fruit and veggie intake. They also carry a selection of GT Enlightened Kombucha probiotics drinks which are absolutely addicting.

Service was fantastic. Our barista was able to recommend drinks and kindly checked the ingredients in each of the treats.

The indoor setting features a few intimate tables. The combination of dark wood and art give the shop a more casual, relaxed feeling as opposed to the hurried business atmosphere of chains like Starbucks. Eco-Bean is a place to savor your coffee and relax, not just grab a to-go container for your car. The outdoor patio looks great for those cooler fall and winter mornings. Free Wi-Fi is available for those looking to get some work done or check e-mail, although I recommend taking some time to unplug and de-stress!

Overall, Eco-Bean was an enjoyable experience, an individual shop with some personality; a rarity in this area. Treat yourself to some great tasting coffee, friendly service, and delicious treats! Skip the chains and visit this local gem of a coffee shop!
