Wildberry, a popular downtown Chicago breakfast choice, features an appealing menu of breakfast favorites and specialties. During our 3 week Chicago trip, we decided to head downtown to see what all the fuss was about. We decided that breakfast at Wildberry was the perfect time to treat ourselves before embarking on our 36 mile adventure along Chicago's beautiful Lakefront Path.

I'm not a huge fan of breakfast food and sweets, so I bypassed the popular specialty pancakes, crepes, and waffle options featured on the menu. Those with a sweet tooth will be impressed with the diverse variety of tempting sweet goods. Some of the more interesting choices on the Wildberry menu include Tiramisu Pancakes, Red Velvet French Toast, Stuffed Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast, and Oreo S'Mores Pancakes. I went with the Veggie Omelet, served with hash browns and toast. The omelet included lots of veggies (asparagus, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, bell peppers, and tomatoes) at a decent price ($10). I also appreciated the use of full vegetables, as opposed to the tiny diced varieties most restaurants use for their omelets. Mike enjoyed his Breakfast Burrito (a whole wheat wrap filled with scrambled eggs, avocado, cheeses, and cilantro) without the meat. He was pleased that the waitress had no problem substituting fresh fruit as opposed to hash browns. After seeing his delicious plate of various fruits, I wished I would have opted for this substitution as well. Wildberry seems to be allergy friendly with the addition of several gluten-free choices on their menu (I noticed Gluten Free Honey Cakes under the Pancake selection). Service was prompt, professional, and friendly - nothing to complain about here.

The interior of the restaurant features a clean, modern vibe, which is a fresh take over ordinary family/diner style restaurants.

I would definitely visit Wildberry again on my next visit to Chicago. I was impressed with both the food and service, all offered at an affordable price. Wildberry is a fantastic option for a weekend brunch with family or friends. On a site note, heading downtown gives you another excuse to plan an afternoon in this wonderful city!
