Vetoris Pizza House

Vetoris Pizza House, a local Brandenton family run restaurant, has one of the largest gluten-free & dairy free menus you will find in the state of Florida. Those who need to eat gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian will be very pleased with the variety of menu items. And for everyone else as well, Vetoris is a great hearty choice after spending an exhausting day at area beaches and parks.

Vetoris offers a large multi page menu of Italian favorites: homemade pizza, calzones, strombolis, a create your own pasta special, and a variety of traditional Italian dishes like Baked Ziti, Lasagna and Ravioli, Manicotti round out a great menu. Additionally, you will find a large gluten-free & vegan menu with plenty of tempting treats. Not the healthiest menu, but we all deserve a little treat every now and then! Prices on gluten-free/vegan options are surprisingly affordable and servings sizes are very large. The fact that Vetoris offers gluten-free and vegan options without taking advantage of guests by charging absurd prices is a refreshing change. You will find that they offer many of your favorite Italian treats in GF and DF variations, such as Eggplant Lasagna, Cheese Ravioli, and pizza. It's quite unusual to find traditionally off the limit wheat based appetizers like mozzarella sticks, french fries, and toasted cheese ravioli in their gluten-free forms. Not many restaurants offer gluten-free versions of so many wonderful appetizers. They even offer gluten free garlic toast with each entree! Vetoris has many vegan options as well including garlic bread knots, pizza made with dairy free Daiya cheese, vegan pasta, butternut squash ravioli, potato skins topped with Daiya cheese & vegan sour cream, and a hummus plate. The GF/DF Eggplant Lasagna was wonderful, very similar to a veggie version I make myself at home. The portion size was very large for a gluten-free/Daiya cheese based entree, which would likely be charged double by most restaurants. Each entree comes with garlic GF/DF bread and a salad, so you will not leave hungry. The potato skins and homemade french fries were both excellent, and also appropriately priced. It was a nice treat being able to order some appetizer treats when they are usually off limits. The only thing I would skip on in the future would be the Vetoris House pasta which was drenched in a bitter lemon based sauce. Not very good, however, everything else was fantastic. The fact that Vetoris goes above and beyond just offering basic gluten-free pasta and a side salad means that you can actually enjoy a full meal out with friends and family. Appetizers, soups, salads, and even dessert (GF & Vegan cupcakes, brownies, and other treats are available) come together to bring you the perfect gluten-free and/or vegan dining experience.

Service was wonderful with waiters well informed of gluten-free and vegan diets. It seems the staff has good communication with the kitchen to ensure that cross contamination issues are eliminated. Your waiter will ask if you need a gluten-free menu as soon as you sit down, so the fact that they realize that a lot of customers need to eat gluten-free, as opposed to treating you differently, starts off your experience on a high note.

One of Vetoris' only downfalls is the small cramped dining area. They really need to expand into a proper space, complete with a unique design and a few personal touches. The interior is crowded with a few tables cramped together. Right now, it feels as if you are dining in a pick up pizza place. Hopefully, they will transfer over into a more spacious place and create their own unique Italian identity.

Overall, Vetoris Pizza House is an excellent choice for Bradenton/Sarasota area locals and tourists seeking a great Italian meal. Allergies or not, everyone will love the variety of options available on the menu. Hands down, Vetoris is one of the best choices for gluten-free individuals in the area.
