Ohana Cafe is a wonderful local, healthy choice in the Palm Harbor area. Located on Orange Street away from all the hustle and bustle of US Hwy 19, Ohana is the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening enjoying a wonderful healthy Hawaiian inspired dish. Ohana offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is served until 1:30pm on weekdays and all day on the weekend, which is great for those who do not feeling like rushing out of bed on Sunday morning for brunch!

The menu is unique in that you will find Hawaiian themed dishes, although many are vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free or are able to be accommodated to fit your dietary preferences. Menu items which can be made gluten-free are conveniently marked as so, reducing the need to ask a million questions. In addition, vegan and vegetarian options are marked. I wish more restaurants did this as it really takes out a lot of hassle over worrying about allergens and contacting staff in advance. Breakfast and lunch includes an assortment of favorites like: omelettes, pancakes, and oatmeal. However, you will also find plenty of interesting selections such as a Honolulu Ham Sandwich (ham, provolone, pineapple, onion, and asparagus on a multigrain or gluten free bun) and Loco Moco (a rice bowl with a free range buffalo patty, an over easy egg, grilled onions, and gravy). There are also plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians, which is unusual for a breakfast menu. In addition to 6 filling salads, you also have several sandwich options (Veggie Delight), appetizers (hummus plate and veggie platter), and drink options (green and fruit based smoothies). Those following a gluten free diet also have choices. Many options can be made gluten free by replacing the multigrain bread with UDI's sandwich bread or a brown rice wrap. One of the gluten free specialties is a gluten free Popover entree, served with turkey bacon, 1 egg, and syrup. The dinner menu includes a selection of appetizers, entree sized salads, Hawaiian themed dinner plates (all gluten free), taco and burrito dishes, and breakfast plates. The Very Vegan Tacos (3 blue corn hard shell tacos, black beans, avocado, onions, bell peppers, and a cilantro lime slaw) were excellent. A side of blue corn chips and salsa was included. This dish was healthy, delicious, and very filling! The portion size was very large for only $11. Another great dinner choice is the Organic Quinoa and Black Bean Burrito (Quinoa, black beans, onions, spinach, cilantro lime slaw, jalapeno peppers, pineapple, cilantro, and tomatoes), served in your choice of a whole wheat or gluten free brown rice wrap. Very delicious and filling! There aren't many choices in town for Mexican food, let alone vegan options, so we were very pleased with our meals. It's nice to have a restaurant in town that is both health conscious and delicious. Most produce used at Ohana is organic and all proteins are antibiotic and hormone free. In addition, the dairy is organic and no MGS or corn syrup are used in any dishes. Prices are moderate too; it's nice to know that the owner isn't taking advantage of those following a healthy diet.

Service was excellent - friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Food was brought out fast and fresh.

Both indoor and outdoor sitting is available, however, I recommend the outdoor patio as indoor seating is a bit cramped. The outdoor patio is a much nicer setting - it's covered, there are pretty lights and palm trees, and occasional live hulu shows. Plus, you get to see all those cute Florida lizards running around! A great place to visit during those cooler late fall and winter evenings.

Vegetarians and meat lovers being able to dine side by side is always a big plus. Ohana's diverse menu is sure to please everyone. Usually vegan restaurants only cater to vegans and regular restaurants can be a nightmare for vegans. The incorporation of a variety of health based dishes for every lifestyle is a real winner.
