One of downtown Flagstaff's best tasting coffees comes from local Arizona roaster, Firecreek Coffee Company. Firecreek sells coffee online and in local shops, in addition to serving residents of Flagstaff and Sedona with 2 shop locations. The drinks at Firecreek are delicious, although a tad too lukewarm for my taste. However, despite this setback, it seems that the employees at Firecreek take more pride in making great coffee drinks in comparison to a few other local establishments I have visited recently. In addition, the attractive design and large open space creates the perfect setting for a relaxing weekend coffee break away from home.

Firecreek was already packed by 8am on a Sunday morning. Usually this means that the coffee and/or atmosphere are pretty great. In Firecreeks case, both the drinks and decor were pleasing. On a disappointing note, they only had one employee working and were unable to serve everyone in a timely manner. With this much business on a daily basis, Firecreek really could use more help. Both the French Press and Americano drinks we ordered were perfectly brewed with the perfect smooth flavor. Just the right strength too, not too weak, nor too bitter. On one sour note, the drinks were not hot enough. The coffee cooled down before we even had a chance to enjoy the entire drink. I also recommend the Espresso Set, which allows you to test out both an espresso shot and an espresso with milk. It's definitely an interesting choice which I have not see elsewhere in Arizona. Aside from coffee, you will find some organic treats, although none of them were marked gluten-free. Adding a few gluten-free/vegan treats is highly recommended!

The barista was pretty quick despite the crowds, although he did mess up by giving us a to-go container despite the fact that we requested a mug. Other than the small hiccup, the employees seemed professional and well trained in making espresso drinks.

Firecreek is much more spacious than other local shops with plenty of tables and even a few couches. The art and overall modern woodsy design are quite appealing.

Firecreek is one of the better local coffee choices in town. Attractive decor, a great variety of drinks, and a large open space place it near the top of my recommended coffeehouses in the Flagstaff downtown area. As helpful suggestions for the future, I recommend hiring more staff and serving hotter drinks.
