Life's a Bear is one of the numerous semi-secluded properties owned by Timber Tops. Rentals are available in 3 different settings: secluded, semi-secluded, and resort setting. Even though our rental was only semi-secluded, it felt pretty rustic as there were no other properties obstructing our view. Life's a Bear sits perched up on a cliff, lending to tremendous views from every angle. This stunning 2 bed room loft layout features an attractive log cabin style design, complete with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful mountains. The cabin features an elegant living room complete with an attractive floor to ceiling gas fireplace, a rustic fully equipped kitchen, beautiful wide plank wood floors, and a wooden spiral staircase which leads you up to the loft. During the holidays, Life's a Bear is decked out in holiday decor. (check the website to find out which cabins come decorated for the season) A fully decorated Christmas tree, wreaths, and even a few outdoor decorations added a nice festive flair for the season. The Black Bear decorations scattered throughout the property gave the cabin a nice rustic vibe. We really felt secluded in the mountains. What a great winter getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city! Everything was spotlessly clean and organized prior to our arrival. Every small detail was taken into account. We appreciated the starter packs of laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper and dish washing detergent as many cabins do not include these conveniences. We fully appreciated not needing to waste any of our trip on a grocery store run. The local area restaurant menus and 24/7 customer service also came in handy during our stay.

The master bedroom had beautiful seasonal red bedsheets and curtains for the holidays, which added a special festive ambiance for the season. The in room jacuzzi was perfect for relaxing with a book each morning and a glass of wine at night. The bathroom was small, although nicely decorated. A washer/dryer combination is convenient for longer stays. The only drawback to the room was no dresser space for clothes, just a few hangers. Added bonus: The classic board games we found in the closet came in handy during our stay.

We paid only $250 a night, in addition to receiving one night free due to a buy 2 get one free deal. Not a bad deal considering other hotels in the area cost roughly the same, but do not include as many amenities. Prices vary based on time of the year, size of the cabin, and location. Check the website for ongoing promotions.

Overall, Timber Tops was the perfect place for our winter getaway to the Smoky Mountains. The location was convenient to both downtown Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, which together house the majority of tourist attractions found in the Smokies region. Timber Tops conveniently gives you free tickets each day of your stay to the top tourist attractions in town (you will receive various 2 for 1 coupons at check in). Make sure to take the opportunity to check out all the unique shows and events that Gatlinburg has to offer. The combination of luxurious amenities, outstanding views, and a beautifully designed cabin make Timber Tops the #1 destination for your first, or next, trip to the Smokies. Another trip to the Smokies is definitely in store!
