Bayshore Mediterranean Grill
Bayshore Mediterranean is the best place in Tampa to enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine. As this cafe is located in South Tampa, it's the perfect choice after exploring any nearby attractions like the beautiful Bayshore Blvd walking/biking path.
Food
The menu consists of 100% Turkish cuisine. A selection of cold and hot appetizers, kababs, salads, oven baked entrees, seafood dishes, and soups comprise the menu. A wonderful place to start is the hot hummus starter. This favorite includes hummus and mozzarella baked and served with tasty lavash bread.
As far as entrees go, the Vegetable Casserole is a wonderful healthy choice. This dish includes a mixture of many veggies including green peppers, red peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, eggplant, and mushrooms, baked in the oven with mozzarella cheese. It's healthy and filling. The Kabobs are also a great choice (available as lamb, chicken, vegetarian, or yogurt). Pricing is a bit on the high side.
Try a baklava or rice pudding, along with a delicious Turkish coffee for dessert.
Service
Service is just alright here - it could be a bit friendly and more attentive.
Atmosphere
The decor is pretty simple although they do offer a nice outdoor patio which is great for al fresco dining during the cooler winter months. Unfortunately, smoking is allowed, and thus, it is not an enjoyable dining experience for anyone who is sensitive to cigarette smoke.
Bayshore usually does not get overly busy and it's pretty easy to get in without a reservation, especially earlier on in the evening.
Final Remarks
Although service is lacking and entrees are a bit overpriced, Bayshore Mediterranean is a good choice for any South Tampa visitor seeking authentic Turkish cuisine.
