Blanco is a popular Mexican chain with locations in both Phoenix and Tucson. The contemporary favorite is located inside the upscale La Encatada shopping mall and features one of the better outdoor patios in Tucson. While far from the best Mexican fare in the area, the menu is creative and the views are amongst the best in the area.
Blanco is a modern upscale chain serving a variety of creative Southwestern style fare. Diverse taco selections include everything from Baja Chicken, to Grilled Avocado, to Chipolte shrimp. There are lots of tasty appetizers to indulge in as well including the very popular Cheese Crisp, which is basically a tortilla covered in cheese and broiled to crisp (otherwise known as a Mexican pizza).
Another great appetizer is the Mexican street corn dish, a savory mixture of corn, cojita cheese, and cilantro.
We enjoyed the Baja Chicken burrito and Fried Avocado tacos. Tacos are served alongside beans and rice, of which are just mediocre compared to the tacos. The food is decent, but not spectacular, and definitely not authentic style Mexican food.
Pricing isn't too bad for the serving size (3 tacos) and most entrees range from 12 to 14 bucks.
Service was friendly, although the pacing of the meal was not great. Appetizers were brought out after the entrees.
The interior of Blanco is clean, modern, and trendy. The spacious outdoor patio offers a nice overlook of the city, and is especially scenic at night.
Blanco is a decent choice if you happen to be strolling around the mall. For those seeking the most affordable La Encatada dining choice with the best views, Blanco is the way to go.
