The Red Star Tavern is a stylish American pub inside the elegant Hotel Monaco in downtown Portland. If you are staying at this property, the tavern is a convenient choice, especially on the first night of your trip when you do not feel like going through the hassle of finding a restaurant. Despite the overpriced menu offerings, the food here is actually pretty decent for a hotel restaurant.
Food
The menu at Red Star is diverse with something for everyone. Basically anyone staying at Hotel Monaco should be able to find something to their liking. In addition to their regular menus, the tavern offers some great Happy Hours deals including specialty priced appetizers and super cheap drink specials.
Dinner is the best time to plan your visit to the tavern. From Seared Sea Scallops for the seafood lover, to Toasted Sumac Millet Cakes for the vegetarian, there are plenty of unique options for everyone in your party. The Millet Cakes plate, which includes delicious seasonal veggies, is really delicious, and I recommend testing them out whether or not you are a vegetarian.

Service is attentive and friendly. The restaurant is quiet and not overly busy, so you still receive personalized service.
