The Living Room is an upscale casual American restaurant at the La Encatada mall in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson. This regional chain has a number of locations throughout Southern Arizona.

The upscale La Encatada outdoor shopping center is the best place in Tucson to do some high end shopping. There are a number of popular restaurants here including The Living Room, which offers a popular Sunday brunch and a nice outdoor patio. While the relaxed patio is a great place to meet up with friends for brunch or a few appetizers and drinks, the nice setting does not make up for the poor quality overpriced food and terrible service.

Food

While The Living Room's menu looks great on paper, the quality just is not there. Also the serving sizes were minuscule for the price and the presentation too casual. You will find a bit of everything on the menu here, from flatbreads, to soups and salads, to sushi, to sandwiches. If you are going to try out the Living Room, brunch is probably the best value.

Brunch and Bubbles is offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-2pm. Crepes, french toast, Eggs Benedict, injectible donut holes, and much more can be found. We tested out the Veggie Crepes and the Ranch Plate. Both were just okay at best and the portions minuscule for the price. Overall, it just was not a good value and there are plenty of better breakfast options around Tucson. If you are looking for great food in a nice setting, I recommend Maynards downtown or Agustin at the Mercado San Agustin.

Service

Service at the Living Room was pretty bad. No one was around to clear our plates or refill our drinks. The waiters were inattentive and seemed more interested in catering only to customers who were there to drink rather than eat. Took over 20 minutes to get a simple check.

Atmosphere

The setting at the Living Room is very nice. The inside decor is modern and lively. The outdoor patio includes comfy lounge seats, misters to keep you cool during the hot summer season, and an overall attractive laid-back, refined vibe. On the downside, because The Living Room is a regional chain, it has that impersonal ambiance versus a real local restaurant.

Final Remarks

The Living Room is not worth checking out unless you happen to be shopping at La Encatada and looking for a bite to eat. The food is just mediocre and the service very poor, however, if you are more interested in a nice upscale vibe and fancy drinks over quality food and service, then you may not be as dissapointed.
