Although it is located a bit out of the way in the Village of Oak Creek, the trek to Red Rock Cafe is well worth it for the great food at awesome prices and local, non-touristy setting. If you are planning to do one of the hikes out this way (like Bell Rock or Little Horse), then this cute little cafe is the perfect place to fuel up prior to your adventure.

Compared with more tourist centered, overpriced options in Uptown Sedona, Red Rock offers great food at modest prices. Overall, it's simply a better value for your money than most of the restaurants in Sedona.

Food

Red Rock Cafe is a general family style cafe with a Southwestern twist. It is open only for breakfast and lunch, from 7am-2pm everyday, making it a good breakfast option pre-hike, or filling lunch after a full morning of hiking.

On the menu, you will find all your usual cafe offerings like a diverse selection of breakfast entrees, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and soups.

One Southwestern specialty that is quite popular is the Blue Corn Huevos Rancheros, consisting of 2 blue corn tortillas topped with eggs, black beans, cheeses, and a special rancheros sauce.

We tried out a Turkey Burger and the delicious Veggie sandwich, which included all sorts of veggies, avocado, jack cheese, and a cilantro dressing on 9-grain bread. The burger was served with delicious, crispy homemade fries and the sandwich alongside a fresh spring salad loaded with fresh, healthy vegetables.

The portions were decent sized and moderately priced. Our meals were $20 combined, which definitely is a steal for the Sedona area.

Our early lunch left us satisfied with enough energy to fuel ourselves through our hike, without being totally overstuffed. To date, the meal at Red Rock was one of our best in Sedona.

We were too stuffed for dessert, however, several delicious homemade pies are offered daily if you want to treat yourself.

Service

Service was friendly and our waitress catered to our substitution requests (extra onion, no tomato, etc.). However, the food did take a really long time, probably over 30 minutes.

I recommend Red Rock Cafe offer a complimentary bread basket as most of the family restaurants do - small perks like this really make all the difference!

Atmosphere

The setting is cozy like your typical family style restaurant, consisting of mostly booth seating. On the walls, you will find some attractive local Sedona art work to gaze at during the long wait for your food.

It's a bit more spread out that most Sedona restaurants, giving you more room to breathe. The small outdoor seating area offers some views of the red rocks, although it was completely packed on this busy weekend afternoon, and thus, hard to appreciate the scenery.

Final Remarks

Overall, Red Rock Cafe is a good choice for the Sedona visitor seeking comfort food at affordable prices.

It's a nice alternative for tourists seeking a local establishment that does not overcharge its' customers simply because of the prime location. Red Rock Cafe is your simple diner: nothing too fancy, just good food at good prices.
