Rosie's is one of several local pizza places in the Pagosa Springs area. It was rated best pizza in town by the annual "Best of Pagosa" publication. Unfortunately, the pizza did not live up to its' reputation. Additionally, service was painfully slow and the noisy bar like atmosphere was just not attractive.
Rosie's offers appetizers, salads, calzones, hot toasted subs, paninis, and a fairly large selection of specialty pizzas. Despite the awards and general positive reviews, we found our pizza to be dried out and burnt. Also, the house salad lacked veggies and overall just was not a good value.
Our waitress was very unfriendly. However, the worst part of our visit was the 45+ minutes it took to get a small pizza and a house salad!
Those seeking a bar-like setting will likely appreciate this pizzeria more than those looking for a traditional Italian restaurant experience.
Rosie's may be a good dining choice for those more interested in watching a sports game or meeting up with friends at the bar. It didn't have the restaurant vibe I was looking for, rather a noisy sports bar setting. I guess it all depends on your personal preference.
One of the only highlights here is the gluten-free pizza. This is one of the only choices in town for those needing a gluten-free pie. Unfortunately, as is the case with most gluten-free pizza, the crust is tasteless, unsatisfying, and easily burnt by cooks who do not know about the differences in cooking time.
Overall, Rosie's did not live up to its' reputation for serving great pizza. Additionally, the service was horrible and the bar like setting very unattractive. I only recommend visiting Rosie's if you are craving pizza and following a restricted diet.
