Las Vegas is a buffet lover's paradise. Even those who do not typically visit buffets at home have to try at least one during a Vegas trip. Why not as you can try an unlimited amount of quality foods at one low price?

The food at most Vegas buffets is actually pretty decent, unlike the lower quality selections you would find at a chain like Golden Corral or Old Country Buffet.

From the 10 buck buffets on Fremont Street to extravagant options like The Wynn and The Bellagio, Vegas has a buffet for every budget. For a great buffet somewhere in between the high and low end options, check out Cravings at The Mirage.

While it isn't the fanciest option in town, the food is fresh, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, everything is spotlessly clean, and there are plenty of gluten-free selections.

Food

Some of the selections you will find on the breakfast buffet line include made to order omelets, a variety of potatoes, pancakes and french toast, soups, toast, fresh fruit, desserts, and more.

A self service drink station featuring coffee, soda, juices, and tea enables you to conveniently get refills yourself as needed without waiting on your server.

Also new at the buffet is an unlimited drinks special which includes wine, mimosas, and beer. This is an excellent deal as it is available during breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours.

Gluten-free selections are adequate and conveniently marked. Although the options are pretty good, they could offer a few more gluten-free pastries and treats, along with some dairy-free/gluten-free selections.

The chef was nice enough to walk us around the buffet, pointing out all the gluten and dairy free items on the line. He even brought us out dairy-free hash browns (as the ones on the line had butter). He told us that they would be looking into offering gluten-free french toast in the future (this sounds great!).

Although all the gluten-free desserts contained dairy, he gave us his email and said if we email him a day or so before our next visit, he would specifically make a few desserts for us in addition to anything else we would like. And he gave us a few free buffet vouchers. Now this is great service!

We enjoyed the omelets, hash browns, spicy breakfast potatoes, black bean soup, fruit, salad, gluten-free toast (they have a separate toaster to prevent cross contamination), grilled chicken, shrimp, and more. Everything was fresh and delicious.

If I had a suggestion, it would be to add a few more veggie based appetizers and sides to the lunch line: it was a bit too meat, seafood, and Asian heavy. A few more dairy and gluten-free appetizers would be another great addition.

Overall, Cravings Buffet was a great deal at only $15 per person. It is much cheaper than many other buffets, while still maintaining a clean and classy atmosphere. We all left satisfied feeling that our money was well spent.

Glancing at The Mirage's room service menu, I noticed that a basic omelet was over $20. It would be silly to pay this much when you can get an entire buffet for a few dollars cheaper.

The best time to visit The Mirage buffet in terms of value is right before lunch. Strategically planning your visit around this time will enable you to test out different foods from both the breakfast and lunch buffets, while paying the more affordable breakfast price.

Service

As I stated above, the chefs were wonderful and did what they could to accommodate our dietary restrictions on such short notice. Giving us free vouchers to return was a nice gesture.

Atmosphere

The seating area isn't the fanciest: it's a bit cramped and noisy if you visit at the wrong time. However, it was clean and the design was appealing. If you visit really early in the morning, the lines will be much shorter and the overall experience much more peaceful.
