Horsemen's Lodge
Horsemen's Lodge is a rustic, cabin style restaurant on the outskirts of the city of Flagstaff. If you are a fan of big portions, affordable prices, and a woodsy Western style setting, than you will probably love Horsemen's Lodge.
Before visiting this restaurant, I emailed the owner regarding gluten and dairy free options. Despite being told that I should go elsewhere because they had no options to suit my diet, I was able to find and enjoy a great breakfast that was both gluten and dairy free!
Food
Horsemen's Lodge serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast was very good and prices were pretty cheap considering the hefty portion sizes and included sides and drink. An overstuffed omelet includes 2 sides and a drink of your choosing.
Gluten-free menu items were clearly marked on the menu so there was no confusion on what you could safely order. The overstuffed veggie omelet, consisting of tomatoes, peppers, spinach, onions, mushrooms, avocado, and Pepper Jack Cheese was an excellent vegetarian choice.
Another entree which our table enjoyed was the French Toast Combo, served with eggs and Applewood Bacon.
Other items found on the Breakfast menu include Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, Boneless Ribeye and Eggs, Corn Beef Hash and Eggs, Smoked Salmon Benedict, an assortment of Breakfast Mixers, and a variety of other options.
Lunch includes a variety of sandwiches and melts, salads, burgers, and steaks. Gluten-free buns are available. A Black Bean based veggie burger is a nice choice for vegetarians.
Dinner includes an assortment of appetizers, burgers, steaks, chicken and seafood entrees, Shepherd's Pie, an endless soup and salad bar, and much more. Every Friday & Saturday night, an Applewood Smoked Prime Rib dinner including the soup and salad bar and cornbread is available.
As a suggestion, adding gluten-free/dairy-free pancakes or French Toast would add a few more selections for GF/DF guests. In addition, a few more dairy-free/gluten-free sides and appetizers on the lunch and dinner menu would open the doors for more customers.
Service
Service was good. Breakfast was served in under 20 minutes or so. Our waitress was able to answer any questions we had regarding gluten and dairy free menu items.
Atmosphere
Horsemen's Lodge has something that, surprisingly, most other restaurants in Flagstaff lack: a unique design theme. One would think that a mountain town would have its' share of rustic, Western themed restaurants, unfortunately, this is not the case in Flagstaff.
Horsemen is about your only choice in town for a cabin style, cowboy themed restaurant. The attractive dining room features a cozy fireplace, great wood paneling, wildlife inspired lighting, and various mountain lion statues.
Live music and Southwestern style stand up comedy will keep you entertained on weekend nights. Occasionally, cowgirls on horseback will greet you as you enter the lodge.
Final Remarks
Horsemen's Lodge is a great choice for anyone seeking a Western inspired dining experience. The hearty cowboy style menu, predominately meat heavy menu, woodsy decor, and live entertainment lend the way to an entertaining one-of-a-kind Western style dining experience in Flagstaff.
