Food

Wild Wood is a gluten-free restaurant and bakery, which has been serving Austin gluten-free diners for over ten years. The homemade gluten-free specialties include bread, cakes, muffins, desserts, and breakfast and lunch dishes, all featuring an excellent texture and taste which you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

The regular breakfast and lunch menu features GF versions of favorite dishes like French Toast, waffles, soups, salads, sandwiches, Mexican dishes, pizzas, and various meat and seafood based entrees. The options really are endless!

If you are visiting Austin on a Sunday, you must check out the incredible brunch buffet. On the unlimited lineup, you will find more than 20 options including french toast, waffles, eggs, bacon, pizza, veggies, Chicken stuffed avocado, black beans and rice, biscuits and gravy, home fries, and desserts. A free mimosa is included too, and all for only $15 per person.

What's nice about Wild Wood's buffet is that they offer a variety of dairy free dishes (eggs, bacon, home fries, and several desserts to name a few). Although the french toast and waffles contain dairy, the chef was nice enough to bring us out a fresh plate of beautifully presented dairy and gluten-free french toast. And wow, was it fantastic! It is hard to believe that this fluffy delicious dish was gluten-free!

Vegan options are a bit limited to a few side dishes like sauteed veggies, black beans and rice, home fries, fruit, and a few desserts. It can be difficult to fond vegan breakfast options, however, adding 1 or 2 entree options to the buffet line will likely draw in more customers given Austin's large vegan population.

Everything on the buffet line was pretty good. All the food looked fresh and everything was kept pretty clean. The GF and DF desserts (chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and chocolate covered strawberries) were especially great. It was nice to have so many different options as opposed to the traditional restaurants, whom offer next to zero options for a gluten and dairy free breakfast.

Service

Service was very good. Our waiter walked us through the buffet line, pointing out all the dairy free options available. We were also brought out a fresh plate of dairy free French Toast. Talk about great service!

Atmosphere

The setting at Wild Wood is casual and simple. There is not much in the way of decor, however, dining here was a peaceful weekend brunch experience. The main draw here is not the decor, rather the abundance of gluten-free options.

Final Remarks

Wild Wood Bakehouse is the perfect Austin restaurant for gluten-free, dairy-free, and paleo diners. The shear number of options available combined with excellent food quality and great service make it an easy pick while in town for the weekend.
