I stop in Wood's whenever my dad visits. He loves seafood and the Plymouth area in general so we always plan a stop at Woods for some fresh lobster. This local gem is a fantastic restaurant for seafood lovers visiting Plymouth, being that it was rated a Yankee Magazine Editor's Choice. A large variety of fresh seafood based entrees, a dining room facing the ocean, and an affordable menu make this restaurant the perfect choice after an afternoon strolling around Plymouth. I am not a huge seafood fan, but I do love the beautiful setting, and thus, enjoy visiting with relatives who enjoy the fresh offerings.
Wood's has just about everything seafood related on their menu including lobster, shrimp, fried fish, haddock, salmon, lobster and seafood salads, lobster and seafood rolls, and plenty of seafood appetizers. It is not a good choice for vegetarians as options are limited to a side salad, fries, and onion rings. However, seafood lovers will have a field day.
Mike loved his baked haddock and clam chowder soup, and my dad came back for the lobster twice during his vacation to the area. I am not a huge fan of seafood, however, I enjoyed the beautiful views of the ocean. Prices were very affordable, considering the fresh caught seafood. The bill for the 4 of us was only $40.
At Woods, you order at the counter. They will call your number when your food is ready. You can then pick out your own seat. We waited about 5 minutes for a window seat to open. There is another small room facing the parking lot with no views, however, I recommend waiting for the scenic view! The food took about 20 minutes, not too bad considering the number of people dining.
Wood's is located directly on the waterfront, which makes it the perfect choice for lunch or dinner after walking around beautiful Plymouth. The dining room is casual and relaxing. I liked the high ceilings and ocean theme. The views were gorgeous. Make sure to wait for a seat by the windows - it's worth the wait for the fantastic views!
I highly recommend lunch at Wood's for anyone who likes seafood and is looking for an enjoyable experience on the waterfront. There is no restaurant in town that offers a more scenic setting or fresher seafood. The central location makes it easily accessible to souvenir shops and other tourist attractions in the area.
